About Barbelo
Barbelo is an interdisciplinary research tool — a knowledge platform for exploring psychology, sociology, politics, geopolitics, health, and the fields that surround them.
It lets you examine a concept, a theme, or a subject from many perspectives and many voices at once — offering, through the word, the light of knowledge as its primordial substance.
Why I built it
As a sociologist (PhD) and a psychology practitioner, I distilled Barbelo out of a simple need of my own. I wanted a way to cut straight to what matters in a podcast — past the small talk, the tangents, the background noise that eats your time and, more often than you’d think, gets in the way of actually understanding and remembering what’s useful. I’m a practical person: I want to find the information I need quickly, so I can use it in everyday life. Barbelo is the tool I wished existed.

What you can do with it
Use it for deep research, with every insight traced to its source and ready to cite. Use it to explore a subject you’re curious about. Or use it simply as a faster way to draw the essence out of hours of podcasts — get straight to the point, ask a podcaster directly for what you need, read bite-sized summaries that cut to the core, trace how concepts connect across sources, and reach clearer decisions, faster.
How people use Barbelo
Following the thread between ideas
I heard about ‘cognitive dissonance’ and I want to understand how it connects to decision-making, to manipulation, to habit. I follow the thread from one concept to the next through the knowledge graph — and discover links I’d never have thought of.
Getting to the essence, fast
A three-hour podcast with a sleep expert. I don’t have three hours. I read the summary, catch the five ideas that matter, and ask the podcaster directly what they say about insomnia — no scrubbing through audio.
Preparing to decide
I want to understand a geopolitical debate from several perspectives before an important conversation. Barbelo gives me the multiple voices and the essence, so I walk in prepared.
Comparing the whole spectrum
I want to see what several experts say about intermittent fasting — not one opinion, but the range. I compare perspectives in a single search, instead of hunting episode by episode.
